
DeWitt began her stage career at the age of 13. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Ball State University. Following that, while performing in summer productions when she met with the director, she convinced her to take part in UCLA's Department of Theater MFA program,where she received the Master of Fine Arts Fellowship and the Clifton Webb Scholarship. Dewitt claimed she did not meet the actor Abe Vigoda while she was at UCLA. She was employed as secretary while at UCLA. Dewitt's portrayal of Janet Wood in Three's Company's run from 1977 to 1984 is her most famous. She was part of the pilot of the show, and then selected. DeWitt also played Janet in an episode in 1979 of the spinoff series The Ropers. DeWitt made her acting debut in an episode of 1984 on Three's Company. Her acting resume included participation in an episode of Noises Off at Michigan's Cherry County Playhouse in June 1991. [1] Later, she appeared in the TV comedy Spring Fling! Pinky and the Brain aired a 1997 episode featuring an actress who was based on her. The voice actor was a different actress. She made an appearance in the episode Cybill, and had an appearance on the last episode of Living Single. [6] Her 2000s works include TV shows like Hope Island, The Nick at Nite Holiday Special and Call of the Wild.
